NBC’s Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie is facing an urgent family crisis: her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, has been reported missing from her home in the Catalina Foothills area outside Tucson, Arizona.
Nancy was last seen at her residence around 9:30–9:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026. She lives alone, and family members became concerned when she failed to attend church the next morning. She was officially reported missing around noon on Sunday, February 1.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated during a Monday press briefing that investigators have evidence of a crime at the home, which is now an active crime scene. Authorities emphasized that Nancy “did not leave on her own” and has limited mobility — she is described as sharp mentally but in poor physical health, unable to walk far independently. Critically, she requires daily medication, and officials warned that going without it for 24 hours could be fatal.
A large-scale search is underway, with authorities urging the public to check home security footage and provide any tips. Savannah Guthrie and her family are cooperating fully with the investigation.
Our thoughts are with Savannah, her family, and everyone involved as the search continues for Nancy’s safe return.
